Meredith garage, portable sawmill lost in blaze

According to East Meredith Fire Department Chief Dave Briggs, the department responded Monday, Oct. 17 at 10:27 p.m. to 903 Sheehan Road to a garage engulfed in flames. The garage, owned by Hobart Venth, contained a portable sawmill, and was declared a total loss, Briggs said. Mutual aid was provided by Pindars Corners, Davenport, Meridale, and Bloomville Fire Departments. Delhi and Oneonta Fire Departments were on standby for East Meredith.
