MASONVILLE — Six Masonville-area farm stands will join forces this month for a fall scavenger hunt designed to send families on a weekend tour of local farms and small businesses.
The Farm Stand Scavenger Hunt will take place over three September weekends: Sept. 12-13, Sept. 19-20, and Sept. 26-27. Participants can visit the six participating stands during their respective weekend hours and collect clues along the way.
At each location, participants will search for a hidden object in a designated color containing a secret word.
The six stops are:
• Bella’s Hen House & Farm Stand: pink chicken
• Ryan’s Yak Farm: blue yak
• The Little Cooler Egg Stand: yellow egg
• The Modern Homesteader: green tractor
• The Mix: orange pumpkin
• Catskill Cookie Cottage: red heart cookie
Participants who find all six objects and record the corresponding secret words in their scavenger hunt passport will be able to piece together a special fall phrase.
Completed passports must be turned in at any participating farm stand by Sunday, Sept. 27. Participants also may submit a photograph of their completed passport to one of the participating businesses to be entered into a drawing for a farm stand basket filled with local products and other goods.
The organizers said the three-weekend format is intended to give participants time to visit all six locations while exploring local farms, food producers and small businesses.
Participants are advised to check the individual farm stands’ hours before setting out, as the scavenger hunt operates on weekends only.
