Andre Rush, Army Veteran and former White House Chef: “You need to take care of yourself to take care of others...you can’t say you’re going to do a mission if you don’t have a mission for yourself first.”

Students, teachers and administrators - hope the first days of school have been good for you.

Wednesday, Sept. 20 is junior/senior picture day. Elementary pictures will be taken Thursday, Sept. 2l and Friday, Sept. 22. Be sure that you dress nicely for your pictures. Saturday, Sept. 23 is the first day of fall and I am sure that everyone is looking forward to fall activities.

Here on the Farm the fellas are missing the tractors as the 3155 John Deere tractor that gets lots of use is off to the shop to get a motor job and it will be weeks before it is back. The other bucket tractor needs some brakes and they hope that can get done - they need it for the jobs that the other tractor was doing. Some of the corn is getting ready to be chopped and a tractor is needed to pack the chopped corn in the bunk. The Dairy One person came last week and tested the cows for milk production, butterfat and protein content and other things that the fellas need to check on for the cows. They get papers in the mail the next week that they use when the vet comes to check the cows for pregnancies, to see which cows need to be bred soon, which cows need to be dried off to calf soon, and a list of the cows that will have calves in the next few months. With all the rain that we have been having this has been a difficult time for farmers to get crops in to keep the cows fed for the winter months. The weather reports that July and August were the wettest and hottest months since weather records have been kept. Keep purchasing dairy products for baking, cooking and drinking - we need to keep our farmers in business and keep the price that they receive for producing the milk at a good rate each month. Have a great and healthy week everyone.

Birthday greetings this week to Marleen Hornbeck Sept. 16, Linda Jones Johnson Sept. 17, Vicki Green and Amanda Jane Lent Sept. 20, Tom Sherman, Theresa Schalk and Amanda Mott Sept. 22. Have a great birthday everyone.
