Michelle Yeoh, the first Asian woman to win a best actress Oscar, said: “One thing that we all need always is hope. We always need to be able to hold up our heads and move forward.” Never give up on your dreams and try to keep working to make them become a reality.

Can you believe that the summer is almost over and it is time for the schools to open? Labor Day is Monday, Sept. 4. Good luck elementary and high school students for a very good and healthy year. Remember when school starts and the buses are traveling the roads, to be careful and stop whenever they are picking up students. Be kind to your teachers and administrators, if you have some new teachers be kind and helpful to them and also to any new students that don’t know the routine of the school and classes.

Here on the Farm the fellas have been getting some hay with the weather cooperating for a few days and chopping and wrapping, tedding it well and raking and making dry hay bales to store in the shed. They got a good start this weekend when a hose on the chopper broke and there was no where to get it fixed. Harold and I will get it fixed in the morning and they can get started again to get the fields done. There is more third cutting getting ready and the fellas will probably bale and wrap that. The corn is doing very well and the ears are starting to form very well and the stalks are nice and green and growing also. The fellas are hoping that the weather holds and is good for them to harvest when it gets ready to chop. We are working on getting the repairs done to the house after we had an electrical fire last week. We hope the weather will give us some sunshine for our farmers to get in some more hay this week because the hay is getting nice and has been growing well. The milk tester from Dairy One is due to come test the cows for milk production and get the fellas a list of all the cows that are due to have calves, those that need to be checked for breeding, those that need to be dried off to have calves sometime in the next months, and a list of all the cows in the herd that are milking. The vet comes the first week of the month and they use the sheets that are prepared to check on the cows’ progress. Keep purchasing dairy products for your cooking, baking and drinking. Milk prices are at a low for the next few months and we hope that since the schools are getting in session soon and the Fall weather is coming with more demand for the dairy products that they will become better soon. It is hard to prepare for the next year’s expenses and budget all of them if low prices come in effect for a long period of time. It has been promised that the quota that has been put on milk production will stop and farmers can produce at 100% capacity soon. With the weather this summer and all the rain when it came time to harvest the hay the goodness became not as great for milk production as it could have been. It grew well if you could get it in the barn in the best of shape.  Have a good and healthy week everyone.
