Manure Injection Field Day Aug. 29

Posted

A manure injection field day will be held Aug. 29 from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Joleanna Holsteins, 309 Covered Bridge Road, Unadilla.

The event, to be held rain or shine under a tent, will feature a discussion of the nutrient management benefits of manure injection and a producer panel to discuss recent experiences with manure injection.

Following a pulled pork barbecue lunch, manure injection, including coulter disk injectors, will be demonstrated on stubble and sod ground, and will include a unit equipped with precision ag manure application equipment which allows for precision rate control and as-applied manure mapping. The field day will conclude with an emergency manure spill response demonstration. The cost to attend the field day is $10 and RSVPs and questions should be made by Aug. 25 to Donna Wood at 607-865-7161 or donna-wood@dcswcd.org

The field day is sponsored by the Delaware County Soil and Water Conservation District Cornell and Cooperative Extension of Delaware County, in concert with partners including USDA NRCS, the Watershed Agricultural Council, Pro Dairy, the Cornell Nutrient Management Spear Program and Sustainable Chesapeake, and is supported by the Conservation Innovation Grants Program at USDA’s Natural Resource Conservation Service.
