Local COVID-19 Numbers Rise Again

DELHI -- Delaware County Public Health officials say the number of positive cases of COVID-19 reported to them by the state is now at 27. Five of those cases were transferred, meaning the people involved were not actually in the county, while three people have recovered. Eight people are still hospitalized, up from six yesterday. The first virus-related death was reported yesterday.

Forty-eight county residents are in mandatory quarantine, with another nine in precautionary quarantine.

No further information on the victims, their locations, or their conditions is being released.

In Otsego County, there are 21 confirmed cases, including State Senator James Seward and his wife, Cindy. One woman has died, and one other person, besides Seward, is hospitalized. Two people have recovered, and 103 are in mandatory quarantine.

Meanwhile, Broome County announced today it has 52 confirmed cases of the virus and it has reportedly set up a temporary morgue for future COVID-19 victims.
