Letter to the Editor: Decker v. DelCo

Posted

Last week’s appearance in Binghamton before Magistrate Judge Lovric must not have gone well for the defendants. Only two days later, the Delaware County Board of Supervisors removed the upper limit on their legal defense fund — a fund for gathering of evidence from supervisor’s phones, tablets, and computers that they had created only a couple of weeks before with the cap of $75,000.

This does raise the question: should we taxpayers be paying to defend what could well be their lawbreaking? Perhaps if the supervisors, in rescinding the appointment of The Reporter as an official paper, were overzealous in doing the will of the people. But what if they were merely advancing their own interests to bury bad news?
