Lester T. Bourke

Lester T. Bourke, 84, passed away peacefully Aug. 10, 2020 at his home in Roxbury. He was born July 2, 1934 in Brooklyn, the son of Lester and Edna (Smith) Bourke.

He married Marilyn R. Armitage in 1973.

Lester was a New York City firefighter until his retirement in 1972. He also served in the US Army Reserves and was the town of Hardenburgh supervisor.

They moved to Roxbury in 2014. He worked at his machine and welding shop in Margaretville up until his death.

His interests included the Ham Radio Club in Margaretville of which he was president and treasurer, The Radio Club in Liberty, and he was a member of the Livingston Manor Rotary Club.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, his son Lester and wife Cyndi Wright, daughter Rabecka and husband Cory, as well as six grandchildren.

He was predeceased by twin sons, William and Douglas in 1978.

Burial was held at the Lew Beach Cemetery on Aug. 13, 2020, with Pastor Shirley Davis officiating with graveside prayers.
