For New York deer hunters who have not yet applied for their 2026-27 Deer Management Permits (DMPs, antlerless tags) or are interested in additional DMPs, there are still opportunities to apply.
Starting Nov. 1, leftover DMPs are available for Wildlife Management Units (WMUs) with a DMP quota that was not met during the initial application period and in all WMUs with Unlimited/Bonus DMPs. Hunters may apply for and receive up to two additional leftover DMPs.
For WMUs with a DMP quota that was not met, leftover DMPs will be available on a first come, first served basis until the quota is met. For WMUs with unlimited DMPs, leftover DMPs will be issued to any hunter who applies and will remain available until Jan. 1, 2027. Applications can be made at any license issuing agent location and are free for hunters who previously applied for DMPs this year; otherwise there is $10 application fee.
DEC adjusts the number of DMPs available to hunters in each WMU based on deer population management objectives. Do your part to steward New York’s deer herd by Choosing A Doe and filling at least one DMP this season.
