BAINBRIDGE - The Kevin Prater Band will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Bainbridge Town Hall Theatre, 15 N. Main Street.
The band, based in Belcher, Kentucky, is known for its traditional Appalachian bluegrass, combining fast-paced instrumentals, country influences, four-part a cappella gospel and bluegrass arrangements of classic rock songs.
Band leader Kevin Prater is a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist with more than 45 years in the music industry. He spent 12 years touring and recording with the Grammy-nominated James King Band and has performed alongside bluegrass musicians including Melvin Goins. Prater plays mandolin, banjo, guitar and bass and is known for his high tenor vocals.
The band’s lineup also includes banjo player and baritone vocalist Codie Allen, 24, of Campbellsville, Kentucky; multi-instrumentalist, fiddler and vocalist Eb Saunders, 17, of Chattanooga, Tennessee; and vocalist Aidan Kerber, originally from Pennsylvania and now living in Johnson City, Tennessee.
The group draws on the traditions of early bluegrass artists, including the Stanley Brothers and Bill Monroe. The musicians do not use a set list during live performances, allowing them to choose songs and arrangements as the show unfolds.
Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door, or reservations can be made by calling 607-288-3882.
The theatre’s gallery will feature its fifth annual photography show that evening. The gallery opens at 6 p.m. before performances and remains open through intermission. Admission to the gallery is free.
