Joan C. Bryden, 80, of Sidney Center, passed away on Nov. 6, 2021 at Wilson Medical Center in Binghamton.

Born on April 23, 1941 in Goshen, she was the daughter of the late Adolphe Casse Jr. and Jessie (Spencer) Casse.

On July 4 after graduating from Walton High School, Joan married the man of her dreams and they have shared 62 wonderful years together.

Joan belonged to the Trout Creek Community Church and was past secretary. Joan was a past hospice board member and was a past president of the Trout Creek Women’s Auxiliary. In her early years, she was delighted to take care of young children, and later worked many years for HEAR Here! Audiology in Unadilla. She was a homemaker and made the best sticky buns in Delaware County. She loved to quilt and made many for family members. She was a member of the Sunday Piecemakers Quilters Guild making quilts for fire victims, ALS and cancer patients, Quilts of Valor, flood victims, children’s Linus quilts, and the sheriff’s department. She also donated quilts to organizations for raffles, to the Homeless Veterans Shelter and Abused Women’s Shelters. She even inspired her stonecutter husband to become an accomplished quilter. All who knew her were entertained by her sense of humor.

Survivors include her husband Jim Bryden; her son Jamie Bryden; brothers Robert Casse (Sue), Adolphe Casse III (Michelle) and Phillip Casse; her sister Lorraine Miller; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she is predeceased by a sister Ruth Ann Casse and a brother-in-law Robert Miller.

Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held Saturday, Nov. 20, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton. A service to celebrate Joan’s life will follow at 1 p.m. with the Pastor Judy Travis officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Joan’s last giving act was as an organ donor. She was able to donate her skin for burn patients and brain for research.
