‘Intimate Topographies’ Opens in Stamford, Exploring Form, Space and Perception

STAMFORD - The Roxbury Arts Group presents Intimate Topographies, an exhibition by Robin Factor and Colleen S. O’Hara, at the Headwaters Arts Center through June 13.

A reception for the artists will take place Friday, May 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. The event was rescheduled following the collapse and cleanup of neighboring buildings. An artist talk is scheduled for Saturday, May 23, from 1 to 2 p.m. All events are free and open to the public.

The exhibition brings together Factor’s mixed-media collages and O’Hara’s paintings and photographs in an investigation of how form, color, line and space intersect at both intimate and structural scales.

Factor’s work draws on minimalist composition and cartographic references, including road maps and topographical lines. Her assemblages present tightly constructed visual fragments that explore the meeting point of natural and human-made forms.

O’Hara works, as she describes it, “in a space between control and freedom.” Her process-driven paintings emphasize gesture and restraint, while her photographs layer light, shadow and depth to produce images that challenge perception and suggest alternate spatial readings.
