The Hobart Historical Society is pleased to announce a special evening presentation featuring the Delaware County Diggers, a local group of metal detecting enthusiasts dedicated to preserving history.

The event, titled “Digging Up History,” will take place Wednesday, July 16, at 6 p.m. at the Hobart Community Center, 80 Cornell, Avenue, Hobart.

The Delaware County Diggers will share fascinating stories and showcase some of the intriguing artifacts they have unearthed using metal detection in Delaware County. Their presentation will highlight the valuable contributions metal detecting can make to uncovering and preserving local history. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the process of metal detecting, the types of items commonly discovered, and the importance of responsible searching and preservation.

“The Hobart Historical Society is thrilled to welcome the Delaware County Diggers,” said Rick van Valkenburg, president of the Hobart Historical Society. “Their work aligns with the mission of preserving and sharing the rich history of the area. This promises to be an engaging evening for all who attend, particularly those interested in local history and archaeology.”
