Heart of the Catskill Human Society’s (HCHS) annual dog walk will be held Saturday, Sept. 14 on the shelter grounds, 46610 State Hwy. 10, Delhi. The theme this year is “Diners, Drive-Ins & Dogs.”
Registration and collection of pledges for the event starts at 11:30 a.m. Anyone attending without pledges can make a free-will donation upon entry. The walk will begin shortly after noon, followed by the festivities. Bring your four-footed furry friends and participate in our Top Diner Dog costume contest, the Diner Donut Eating Contest, Coffee Run Obstacle Course, and Dog Dash.
Enjoy a Blue Plate Special lunch at the Flav-fur-town Kitchen and a sweet treat at the bake sale. Listen to jukebox tunes by DJ Chet Delameter, see a Furs A Flying dog grooming demo, shop at the Beastie Boutique, and visit some shelter kitties at the Feline Drive-In Cat Tent to round out the day.
The HCHS special presentation this year features dog trainer and author Suzanne Clothier who will be demonstrating two RTC (Relationship Centered Training) games with your dog. “Go Say Hi 1-2-3” helps dogs learn about good manners when greeting people and RRR (Really Real Relaxation) helps dogs learn to really relax with you almost anywhere. Clothier is the author of many books and videos including the classic Bones Would Rain from the Sky; Deepening Our Relationship with Dogs. HCHS is thrilled to have her be a part of this year’s Dog Walk this year.
Water and treats will be provided for your dog. Make sure your dog is up to date with vaccines and wearing a collar with a current rabies tag. Do not bring a female dog in heat; be responsible about your dog’s comfort level and behavior around other pets and people.
All proceeds go to care for the dogs and cats at HCHS. For more information visit heartofthecatskills.org or call 607-746-3080 or email info@heartofthecatskills.org
Donations can be made via the website, by phone, or mailed to HCHS P.O. Box 88, Delhi, NY 13753.
We look forward to seeing you in your Diner and Drive-In best on Sept. 14.
