STAMFORD — Headwaters Arts Center will unveil Under Construction, a new sculptural exhibition featuring the work of artists Jamie Banes and Toni Brogan, with an opening reception scheduled for Saturday, July 5, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the gallery on Main Street.
The exhibition, on view through August 30, brings together two distinct approaches to form and material. Banes, an upstate New York artist, constructs dystopian architectural miniatures and cityscapes from salvaged materials, drawing on his background in the trades and his interest in the built environment. His works navigate the boundary between the industrial and the uncanny.
Brogan, originally from Auckland, New Zealand, offers textured fiber-based installations fashioned from repurposed materials. Using furniture and clothing racks as makeshift looms, she weaves narratives of memory, loss, and domestic life, often incorporating found and organic objects.
Under Construction reflects on space—both physical and emotional—as something in flux. Visitors are invited to consider how material history and personal memory shape the environments we occupy and imagine.
Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, visit roxburyartsgroup.org or email headwaters@roxburyartsgroup.org.
