Headwaters Arts Center To Offer Beginner Crochet Workshop

Posted

STAMFORD - Fiber artist and longtime instructor Linda Jones will teach a beginner crochet workshop from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Headwaters Arts Center, 66 Main St., Stamford.

The two-hour, hands-on workshop will introduce participants to crochet fundamentals using granny squares. It is designed for beginners and those looking to refresh their skills.

Participants will learn to make a magic ring, work single and double crochet stitches, weave in loose ends and join granny squares. Jones also will demonstrate blocking, a technique used to shape and finish crochet projects.

Tools and materials will be provided, but participants may bring their own. Attendees will leave with the skills needed to complete their projects at home.

Registration is available online at givebutter.com/crochet-for-beginners. Tiered pricing is $15, $25 or $40.

Jones has more than 60 years of crocheting experience. She sells knitted and crocheted items at the Delhi and Bovina farmers markets and at Birdsong in Hamden. Through the CROP program, she also teaches crocheting, knitting and sewing to students in first through eighth grade at Delaware County schools.
