Harpursville man indicted, pleads not guilty to drug charges

DELHI - A Harpursville man, Zachary A. Rowe, 24, pleaded not guilty to a two count indictment, unsealed in Delaware County Court, Monday, Oct. 23.

Rowe is charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, accused of possessing methamphetamine and fentanyl in the village of Sidney Oct. 1 and Oct. 12.

Rowe was arrested by the Sidney Police Department on a warrant for failure to appear in Delaware County Court on unrelated charges of . While in custody of Sidney police, K9 Riggs, assigned to Sidney Police Officer Royce Terry, indicated the presence of narcotics on Rowe. A police search conducted after Terry obtained a search warrant revealed Rowe possessed approximately $7,000 in methamphetamine and fentanyl, according to Acting District Attorney Shawn Smith. Smith said Rowe intended to sell the drugs.

Rowe is being held at the Delaware County Jail, without bail, awaiting a court appearance.
