Gerald Alan Scott, 75, of Amherst, Virgina, passed away May 20, 2025, in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Gerald was born Dec. 1, 1949, in Troy, a son of the late David Bartlett Scott and Jeanne Tweedie Scott.
Gerry graduated from Walton Central High School in 1969. He graduated from Oklahoma Technical College in Tulsa, Oklahoma with a degree in auto mechanics. He held several jobs including auto parts stores and senior mechanic at a Chevrolet car dealership. He was a mechanical technician for the past 30 years at Shibuya-Hoppman in Madison Heights, Virginia, where he designed, assembled and performed installations of packaging machines.
Gerry loved cars since his early teens. He loved the classic Chevrolets, spending all his spare time rebuilding them for driving and drag racing. He loved to talk and joke around. He was well liked and had many friends.
He is survived by his sister, Nancy Scott Scherer and her husband Randall of Chesapeake, Virginia; one nephew, Christopher and his wife Casey; great nieces Caitlyn and Cara Scherer of Chesapeake; one niece Megan and her husband Jonathan; great nephew Jansen; great niece Corryn Dail of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina; an aunt, Elma (Scott) and uncle, Charles Wells of Bushnell, Florida; and multiple cousins and second cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Roger D. Scott.
Burial will take place at Walton Cemetery Aug. 12 at 11 am.
