Free rabies vaccination clinic in Sidney May 5

Posted

Delaware County Public Health will host a free rabies vaccination clinic for dogs, cats, and ferrets on Monday, May 5, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Sidney Fire Hall, 74 River Street.

The clinic is open to all county residents. Preregistration is encouraged but not required. Pet owners are asked to bring prior vaccination records to determine eligibility for a three-year immunization.

Under New York law, all cats and dogs are required to be vaccinated against rabies. Animals may receive their first vaccination at three months of age.

To ensure safety, dogs must be leashed and under control, while cats and ferrets should be transported in secure carriers. Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after their animals; failure to do so may result in fines.

Veterinary staff will be available only during the posted clinic hours. For questions or assistance with registration, residents may contact Delaware County Public Health at 607-832-5200.
