A free rabies vaccination clinic for dogs, cats and ferrets will be held Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Deposit Highway Garage, 1 Village Street (200 Front Street).
Health officials urged pet owners to pre-register in advance and to bring proof of prior rabies vaccination to determine eligibility for a three-year certificate. First vaccinations may be given to puppies and kittens beginning at 3 months of age.
State law requires all dogs and cats to be vaccinated against rabies. Dogs must arrive leashed and under control; cats and ferrets should be secured in carriers. Organizers noted that local partners are providing facilities for the event and reminded attendees to clean up after their animals, as required by law.
A veterinarian will be on site only during the posted clinic hours.
