Check Franklin Central School’s (FCS) October sports calendar.

Franklin FFA Senior Class combined fundraiser for fruit and cheese is going on now and ends Nov. 7. Orders will be delivered during the week of Dec. 2-6. See any Senior or FFA member to make an order. 

Greater Franklin Food Pantry, 574 Main Street, will be open Friday, Oct. 25 from 2-4 p.m. or by appointment. The Greater Franklin Food Pantry is coordinating boxes of holiday meals for families in need. You or your organization can sponsor a box for $50. Send a check to our PO Box 209 or donate online at greaterfranklinfoodpantry.org Reach out to the pantry to receive a box. Deadline is Oct. 30 for November or Nov. 30 for December holiday boxes.

Franklin Free Library - 334 Main Street - hours are Tuesday and Thursday 9 a.m.-noon and 1-5 p.m.; Wednesdays 2-8 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Franklin Film Forum, Saturday, Oct. 26 at 7p.m. This month’s movie is Mad Love, the 1935 film starring Peter Lorre, hosted by Michael Paxton. Suggested donation $5.

Franklin Railroad and Community Museum will be open Sunday, Oct. 27 from 1-4 p.m., 572 Main Street.

Halloween festivities including trick or treating will take place in Franklin Thursday, Oct. 31 from 5-7 p.m. Turn on your porch light if you are offering candy.

There will be a haunted hallway at FCS, 26 Institute Street, from 6-8 p.m. A costume contest will take place at 7 p.m. Don’t miss table or treat from 5-7 p.m. on Institute Street.

Coming up: FCS will host a breakfast for our local Veterans Nov. 8 at 8:15. Reservations are required by Nov. 6. Contact Cindy Ackerley at 607-829-3551 x1517 to RSVP. The Veterans Day program which is open to the public will follow at 9:15 a.m.

On the back of the ballot is: Proposal Number One, An Amendment. Amendment to Protect Against Unequal Treatment This proposal would protect against unequal treatment based on ethnicity, national origin, age, disability, and sex including sexual orientation, gender identity and pregnancy. It also protects against unequal treatment based on reproductive healthcare and autonomy. A “YES” vote puts these protections in the New York State Constitution. A “NO” vote leaves these protections out of the State Constitution.
