Florine E. Geasey passed away on May 2, 2025 in Advent Hospital in Lake Wells, Florida.
Flo was born on April 27, 1936 in Danville, Pennsylvania, the oldest daughter of Earl and Grace Rhoades. After completing high school in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, Flo graduated as an honor student from the nursing school at the Harrisburg Hospital, Pennsylvania.
Florine married her high school sweetheart Albert W. Geasey, on Dec. 29, 1956 in Angola, Indiana. Al and Flo raised their family in Downsville.
Flo worked as a nurse for over 40 years, as a maternity ward nurse in Colorado, as a Delaware County Public Health nurse, and as a nursing educator at the Delaware County Infirmary in Delhi. Flo was a natural leader and she worked with Cub Scout and Girl Scout groups, always leading with patience, strength and a sense of fun.
Flo was a talented pianist and played in a band alongside Al. Flo and Al enjoyed dancing together for 70 years. Her love of music was matched only by her competitive spirit, especially on the basketball court. She could often outshoot her sons in a game of “horse” well into her golden years.
After retirement, Flo found peace and joy with Al in their final home in Winter Haven, Florida. She continued to contribute to the community there, as a nurse-friend-companion to her neighbors. Flo was full of life and her legacy lives on in the lives she touched through the love she gave so freely.
Florine is survived by her husband Al, her sons David (Karen), Keith (Suzanne), and Michael (Jill), and daughter, Sharon Bassage (Bob), and her sisters Jane Getz and Mary Lou Sommers. Flo was the proud and doting grandmother of Matthew, Jonathan (Ariana), Michelle, Samantha, Andrea, Nicholas, Ryan and Jordan Geasey and Jacob and Mitchell Bassage. She also was a great-grandmother to five children.
