The Susquehanna Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club welcomes hikers and outdoor enthusiasts from Otsego, Delaware and Chenango counties to join its monthly outings and meetings.
The chapter offers Tuesday morning hikes featuring relatively easy walks over flat or rolling terrain at a leisurely pace. Hikes that differ in difficulty or distance will be noted in their descriptions.
The Tuesday outing schedule is available at susqadk.org/outing-schedule For meeting times and locations, call or text the hike line at 607-431-8010.
Participants should be physically prepared for each activity and bring appropriate clothing, gear and enough water to stay hydrated.
The chapter meets on the third Wednesday of each month. From September through May, meetings are held at 6 p.m. in the community room at Elm Park United Methodist Church, 401 Chestnut Street, Oneonta. From June through August, meetings take place at local parks, with locations announced in advance.
Meetings begin with a potluck supper. Attendees are asked to bring a dish to share, along with their own table service and beverages. Programs begin at 7 p.m. for those who do not attend supper. Meetings and programs are open to members and nonmembers.
The chapter’s executive committee also encourages members who live outside Oneonta to carpool to meetings and activities to reduce the group’s carbon footprint.
Saturday all-day hikes expand in 2026
Following a successful launch last year, the chapter expanded its Saturday all-day hike series for 2026.
The program was created to offer longer, more challenging hikes in new areas, with greater distances and elevation gains than the regular Tuesday outings. In 2025, the chapter scheduled seven hikes on the third Saturday of each month from April through October. More than 80 people participated across the series.
The response prompted the chapter to expand the program to 10 Saturday hikes in 2026. The schedule will include return visits to popular destinations as well as opportunities to explore new terrain.
The all-day hikes require advance registration and are limited to 20 participants. Hikers bring their own lunches.
