It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Eva Williams (Mortensen), 74, of Andes, who passed away Sept. 28, 2022.

Eva was born Sept. 16, 1948, to Ejnar and Johanne Mortensen in Tim, Denmark.

She moved to the United States in January of 1974 where she went on to study accounting at Hunter College in New York City. After graduation, Eva worked as an au pair for the Goodman family and later went into a lifetime career in accounting/bookkeeping.

She was married to Michael W. Williams; they wed on June 27, 1981, in Denmark.

Before retirement, Eva was well known for her positions in the Andes/Delhi area at Mercantile, IndyPay, Greenslate, and the Tin Horne.

Eva was very talented at crochet, cross-stitch, and knitting and sold her beautiful pieces locally for many years. After retiring, Eva spent her time knitting, having lunch with friends, visiting with family from North Carolina, catching up with her family in Denmark, and doing puzzles beside her cherished cat Willy.

Eva was predeceased by her beloved husband, Michael W. Williams (passed April 6, 2020); her parents, Ejnar and Johanne Mortensen, brother Erik Mortensen and sister Bodil Kristensen.

She is survived by her sister Signe Mortensen; her stepchildren Michael E. Williams, Paul C. Williams, Denise M. Luken (Williams), and Alex J. Williams; her daughter-in-law Sherill Steen; her nieces Jette Rosendahl (Kristensen) and Karina Mortensen; her grandchildren Brittany Ames (Williams), Stephanie Mewherter (DeContreras), and Brian DeContreras; her great-nieces Cecilie Rosendahl and Sille Mortensen, great-nephew Frederick Rosendahl; and her great-grandchildren Wyatt Mewherter, Bennett Mewherter, and Elijah Ames.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 24, at the Andes Cemetery, Andes, with the Rev. Edward Golding 

Eva, your presence brought joy to all who had the privilege of knowing you. You will be deeply missed. Rest in peace.
