Eddie W. More, 82 of Harpersfield, passed away Monday evening, Feb. 9, 2026, at Cooperstown Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing.
Born on Oct. 1, 1943 in Margaretville, Eddie was the son of the late Walter and Mary (Cleveland) More.
He retired from New York State Department of Environmental Conservation as a supervisor at their Stamford office. Eddie, along with his son Jake, operated a well-known local custom butcher shop for many years, serving local hunters and farmers.
Eddie also was committed to serving his community as a volunteer fireman, first with the Hobart Fire Department and later with the Stamford Fire Department.
He was a true outdoorsman; Eddie enjoyed fishing, farming, horses and hunting, and he enjoyed the companionship of many coonhounds and bird dogs over the years.
Besides his parents, Eddie was predeceased by his siblings Audrey (Ken) Dorosky, Edna (Guy) Hitchcock, Christina “Tina” Morse, Inze Marella and Steve More.
He is survived by his wife Lana More of Harpersfield; son Jake (Jessica Fredenburgh) More of Hobart; sister Elsie “Suzzi” Eno; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of Eddie’s life is being planned for the spring and will be announced.
