The Meredith Historical Society will convene its annual meeting Saturday, June 21, at 2 p.m. in the former Charlotte Valley Presbyterian Church, a historic building located at 10044 Elk Creek Road.
In addition to the election of officers and trustees for the coming year, the afternoon will feature a program titled “That’s the Way It Was,” a series of firsthand recollections capturing life in rural Delaware County in earlier decades. Members of the society will read essays written by local residents reflecting on bygone eras.
Among the topics: harvesting ice from Spring Lake, commercial cauliflower farming, working at the Meredith Inn during World War II, the arrival of electricity, forgotten cemeteries, winter treks to school, and 4-H projects.
The program is free and open to the public. For more information, call 607-746-8083.
