Eastbound Lanes Closed on I-88 as Repairs Continue; Westbound Traffic Restored

SIDNEY - Traffic on Interstate 88 has partially resumed following last week’s closure, but eastbound drivers continue to face detours between exits 10 and 12, according to the New York State Department of Transportation.

Westbound lanes, serving motorists traveling from Oneonta, have fully reopened, allowing traffic to proceed without interruption.

Eastbound traffic, however, remains diverted. Drivers heading from Sidney are being directed off the highway at Exit 10 and onto State Highway 7, with reentry to I-88 permitted at Exit 12. Detour signage remains in place along the route.

State officials said there is no current timetable for reopening the eastbound lanes.

Motorists are advised to plan for delays and use caution, particularly as the detour passes through a school zone and residential areas.

The update reflects conditions as of 5 p.m. April 4. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
