HANCOCK — Just after 2 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, the Hancock Fire Department responded to a reported residential structure fire in the village, joining crews from East Branch, Callicoon, Walton, Trout Creek, and other area departments, along with local EMS and state police.
First-arriving firefighters found heavy flames at the rear of the home and quickly launched an aggressive interior attack, advancing handlines to halt the fire’s spread. Their rapid action allowed crews to knock down the bulk of the blaze before conducting extensive overhaul operations to ensure no hidden pockets remained.
Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the town of Hancock EMS, town of Rockland FAST Team, Northern Wayne Fire Department, Delaware County Emergency Services, and the Sullivan County Bureau of Fire, among others. Deposit Fire Department provided station coverage for Hancock during the incident.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Hancock Fire Department and Delaware County Emergency Services.
