DELHI - On June 25, Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a fatal, two-car motor vehicle accident on state Route 28 in Meredith that resulted in the death of Marsha A. Rotella, 45, of Delhi. Rotella was traveling southbound on state Route 28 in her 2007 Jeep Wrangler when she was attempting to pass a second vehicle, a 2024 Ford Expedition, operated by Jamie E. Navarro, 46, of Pembroke Pines, Florida, which was traveling in the same direction. Rotella steered back into the southbound lane to avoid striking an oncoming vehicle and struck the Navarro vehicle. Rotella lost control of her vehicle which left the roadway and overturned, ejecting her from the vehicle. As a result of the injuries she sustained in the accident, Rotella was pronounced deceased at the scene. State Route 28 was shut down for several hours. Assisting at the scene was Delhi Fire and EMS, Delaware County Ambulance, AMR, LifeNet, New York State Police and the New York State Department of Transportation.
