DELHI – The Greater Delhi Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual St. Patrick’s Day parade on Saturday, March 18 to celebrate the “unofficial start of spring,” parade coordinator Glenn Nealis said.
The parade will begin at noon, and the procession will start at SUNY Delhi and conclude on Bridge Street.
Rich Morely, a long-time active member of the community and Delhi Masonic Lodge, will be the 2023 parade grand marshal. “He has been deeply involved in the betterment of our community, and those are the kind of people we choose for grand marshal,” Nealis said.
This year’s parade will feature multiple live bagpipe bands, local and state fire and police departments, floats created by local businesses, Girl and Boy Scout troops, and others, and encourags anyone interested in entering a float, to participate. “We like to think of this as a community celebration, to get people out of their houses, into the sun, and remind them why they enjoy our area so much,” Nealis said.
Local restaurants and businesses were encouraged to be open and offer special St. Patrick’s Day deals following the parade to encourage patronage from spectators and participants, Nealis said. “We hope to see people truly enjoying themselves and the community.”
“I know everyone says this, but we truly could not hold this parade without our sponsors. There would not be a parade without them,” Nealis stated, and thanked all parade sponsors for their continued support of the event.
