DELHI — Delaware County Public Health will offer a free rabies vaccination clinic for dogs, cats and ferrets on Wednesday, Aug. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Delhi Fire Hall, 140 Delview Terrace Extension.
Pre-registration is encouraged through the county’s online registration system, although assistance is available by calling Delaware County Public Health at 607-832-5200.
New York law requires all dogs and cats to be vaccinated against rabies. Pets are eligible to receive their first rabies vaccination at three months of age. Owners are asked to bring previous vaccination records so staff can determine whether their pets qualify for a three-year vaccination.
For the safety of attendees, dogs must be leashed and under control, while cats and ferrets must be transported in secure carriers.
County officials also remind pet owners that they are responsible for cleaning up after their animals while attending the clinic. Veterinary staff will be available only during the advertised clinic hours.
