This week’s trivia question: What organization hosts the Out of the Darkness Walk Sunday, Sept. 24? They will also host the kickoff for the walk Tuesday, April 18 in the Centennial Center at Sanford Hall, SUNY Delhi from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Meet the committee and learn more about how you can be an everyday hero in the fight to stop suicide. Community volunteer of the week is Sarah Poole, the chairperson of the Town of Delhi Zoning Board of Appeals, the co-chair of the Delhi Bridge Run, and also advises student groups at SUNY Delhi. Thanks to Sarah and the students at SUNY Delhi, Cannon Memorial Park is being renovated. We can always count on Sarah to help the community in any way she can. Thanks to Sarah for all she does. Delhi is lucky that she gives of her time.

Online registration for Delaware Opportunities (DO) Dairy Distribution will start Wednesday, April 5 at 8 a.m., one week ahead of the event Wednesday, April 12 from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Register at www.eventbrite.com/e/april-2023-dairy-distribution-tickets-602532941247. Be mindful that the distributions fill up very quickly online and on phone sign up days are often hard to get through because everyone is calling. Be patient and keep trying; do not leave messages as they will not receive them in time to sign you up. Only the phone numbers listed will get you to a signup person. The distributions operate in a drive-through style. Bring your ticket and/or confirmation number and plan to stay in your vehicle. Only one sign-up per household. If you need someone to pick up your food or dairy for you, send your confirmation number with them. If you are unable to get tickets, remember that the Delhi Food Bank is open Mondays from 1 until 3 p.m. and Thursdays from 3:30 until 5:30 p.m. at United Ministry Church behind the Delaware National Bank on Church Street. The Bloomville Food Pantry is open Wednesdays from  1 until 3 p.m. behind St. Paul’s Church, 464 River Street, Bloomville.

Cannon Free Library, 40 Elm Street, hosts chess every first Thursday of the month from 4 until 7 p.m. Check it out tonight - Thursday, April 6. The library also hosts many ongoing events: Wednesdays at 10 a.m., the knitters group meets - bring knitting or crochet projects, embroidery, or any small handcraft project, and sit with others. Chat, have a cup of coffee, and share tips, tricks, and techniques. Thursdays at 10:30 a.m., Preschool Storytime for children ages 3-5 includes reading three to four books, songs, play and a simple, age-appropriate craft. Also Thursdays at noon - Mahjong Meetup - and beginners are welcome. Play the ancient game with others and remember to wear your mask. LEGO Club meets the third Tuesday of the month at 3 p.m. for children ages 5 and up. Design your dream structure or take part in a Lego challenge Tuesday, April 18. Community Seed Swap and Ask-a-Farmer table Saturday, April 8, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Bushel, 106 Main Street. The Greater Catskills Young Farmers Coalition invites you to bring your extra seeds and pick up something new to grow. No seeds to bring? No problem - there will be lots of seeds to share. Packets and labeling supplies provided. The Ask-a-Farmer table to talk shop with local farmers about growing plans, and get advice for a successful season. Growers will be available throughout the day to answer questions about growing your own food and flowers. Following this event Saturday, April 8, there will be an exhibition opening from 3 until 5 p.m. for ‘Inside Voice’ a two-person exhibition of paintings by Saira McLaren and Nancy Diamond.

There will be an Easter Egg Hunt at the Delhi Rehab & Nursing Center, 41861 state Highway 10, Saturday, April 8 at 2 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

The annual Easter egg hunt, 1 p.m. Saturday, April 8 at the DeLancey United Presbyterian Church, 444 county Highway 2. Children of all ages are welcome.

A presentation on Unusual Railroads of Upstate NY will be held Saturday, April 8 at 2 p.m. at the Delaware County Historical Association. John Duda, a railroad historian, and trustee of the Greater Fleischmanns Museum of Memories will highlight the more unusual railroads in our region. Admission to the event is free. Delhi town council will meet Monday, April 10 at 7 p.m. at the town hall, 5 Elm Street.

The Greater Delhi Area Chamber of Commerce member meeting, Tuesday, April 11 at 11 a.m. at the eCenter, 5.5 Main Street. The Greater Delhi Area Chamber of Commerce is a group dedicated to promoting and supporting business and tourism in the Greater Delhi area. We are a fun, friendly bunch looking for new members to help celebrate and elevate the area. They meet on the second Tuesday of each month at the eCenter.

The Kirk Thrift Shoppe is open Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church of Delhi, 4 Clinton Street. The Gifts from the Heart at Heart of the Catskills Humane Society, state Route 10. Proceeds directly benefit the homeless cats and dogs of Delaware County. The store is open when the shelter is open: Tuesday through Saturday, noon to 4 p.m.
