The 2023 Ice Harvest at Hanford Mills Museum will be Friday, Feb. 10, and Saturday, Feb. 11 at 51 County Highway 12 in East Meredith. Ice blocks will be cut from the pond, and then moved to the ice house where they will be stored until summer. Admission is by donation. Visitors can help harvest ice from the frozen pond if the ice is 8 or more inches thick. If the ice is 6-8 inches thick, Hanford Mills staff will be on the ice, and visitors can help transfer the harvested ice to the ice house. Womxn for Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (W.I.D.E) will present an evening of chamber music with Sugar Hill Salon Monday, Feb. 13, at 7:30 p.m. at Bushel Collective, 106 Main Street. Sugar Hill Salon is a music collective from Harlem that centers on black and brown woodwind artistry in classical music. Their mission is to showcase wind repertoire that lacks representation within “traditional” chamber programming while uplifting black and brown musicians performing them. With each performance, Sugar Hill Salon is decolonizing classical music for a more equitable future for black and brown communities. Space is limited; advance tickets are strongly recommended.
