HAMDEN - Delaware Opportunities has announced an election to fill a vacancy on its board of directors, an effort to ensure that the specific needs of the town’s lowest-earning residents are heard at the highest levels of local advocacy.
The election, scheduled for Tuesday, April 7, seeks a representative for the town of Hamden. Christopher Bodo is currently the sole candidate on the ballot, though voters will have the option to submit write-in candidates.
The contest is notable for its specific residency and income requirements, designed to provide a direct democratic link between the agency and the population it serves. To be eligible to vote, residents must live in Hamden and have an annual household income at or below 200% of the federal poverty level.
In-person voting will take place from 8 a.m. to noon at the Hamden Food Pantry, located at 35430 State Highway 10. For those unable to reach the pantry, the agency is offering mail-in ballots and fillable electronic forms upon request.
Residents interested in requesting a remote ballot or seeking further information are directed to contact the agency’s administrative offices at 607-746-1603.
