WALTON - Saturday night, Aug. 16, at the Delaware County Fair saw engines roar and metal collide during the demolition derby, with competitors vying for top honors in multiple heats and categories.
In the 4-cylinder compact class, Andrew Dougherty and Tyler Melvin claimed the top two spots. Joe Johnson was recognized as the “Mad Dog” of the heat and Ryan Roena placed third.
The second 4-cylinder compact heat saw Kyle Utter and Nate Juron take first and second place, respectively, while Patrick Acer earned “Mad Dog.”
In the V-8 class, Jeff Shelton and Kyle Baker finished first and second, with Dave Cronk placing third and Kraygin Constable earning the Mad Dog award.
The second V-8 heat crowned Reed Scott, first, and Austin Williams, second, while Scott Barnhart earned the Mad Dog honor. Kurt Alexander placed third in the heat.
Decorative flair was celebrated as well, with Korey Fisher taking home $50 for Best Painted Car, followed by Keagan Barnes.
Special awards
• Daemen Backus was awarded the Colton Church Memorial Sportsmanship award.
• Ashley LaTourette was awarded the Lilivene Terry Memorial Sportsmanship award
• Scott Barnhart was awarded the Travis Terry award in the 8-cylinder feature
