DELHI – Delaware County Public Health officials Sunday reported a new confirmed COVID case in the county, bringing the total of cases reported to 73. The number of people hospitalized ticked up, as well, with three residents now requiring hospitalization. 47 people have recovered, seven are isolating at home, and 10 test results are still pending. Four people have died.
Governor Andrew Cuomo today announced that New York is joining a buying consortium of six other regional states to acquire PPE for healthcare workers, and said the state will require hospitals to build a 90 day stockpile of necessary supplies for any future needs.
The number of new virus cases in New York is holding steady at about a thousand new cases a day, and the daily death toll is dropping, but was still over 250 since yesterday, a number Cuomo called “tremendously distressing.”
The governor said his concern, after traveling around the state in the last week, is the pressure to get back outside, to re-engage, will overcome the caution that led to the number of virus cases dropping.
He also again emphasized the importance of wearing a mask when around others outside, where personal distancing can't be maintained. Not wearing a mask, he said, is “disrespectful” to the people around you.
“That is your social responsibility in the middle of this overall pandemic.”
