DELHI — Delaware Academy Central School District at Delhi will bring the classic tale of The Wizard of Oz to the stage this March, offering a special dress rehearsal performance for area senior citizens.

On Thursday, March 6, at 4 p.m., seniors are invited to the Delaware Academy Auditorium for a complimentary preview of the production, followed by a Chicken and Biscuit dinner in the district’s dining hall. The annual spring musical, a highlight of the school’s arts programming, provides an opportunity for the community’s older residents to enjoy a theatrical performance in a welcoming setting.

L. Frank Baum’s beloved story follows Dorothy Gale, a young girl who runs away from home to protect her dog, Toto, only to be swept away to the fantastical land of Oz. The tale, first adapted into the iconic 1939 film starring Judy Garland and later staged by the Royal Shakespeare Company, continues to captivate audiences with its enduring themes of courage, friendship, and home. The Delaware Academy production offers a contemporary interpretation while remaining faithful to the music and heart of the original.

During intermission, at approximately 6 p.m., attendees will be escorted to the dining hall, where they will be served dinner by Delaware Academy’s Food Service staff and cast members before returning to the auditorium for the second half of the show.
