WALTON — A 68-year-old person with dementia was found safe after an early-morning search in Walton on Aug. 16, according to a report from the New York State Department of Envirnmental Conservation. The individual, visiting from Rhode Island, was reported missing after leaving a residence overnight. New York State Police deployed a K9 unit, the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office used a drone, and Forest Rangers coordinated with local fire departments in the search. At 10:40 a.m., a ground crew located the person in a stone quarry. Walton EMS transported them to a hospital for evaluation.
