David C. Anderson Jr., 69, of Delhi passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025 surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Davey was born March 2, 1956 in Delhi, the son of David C. Anderson Sr. and Ruth Aiken Anderson. His early years were spent on the family farm with his brother and sister. The farmland would later become part of the Delhi College Golf Course where his father was head superintendent.
Shortly after graduating from Delaware Academy Davey began a successful refuse business, becoming a staple in the Delhi community.
Golf would become one of Davey’s favorite passions with many great times spent with family and friends. He won countless local tournaments including the Delaware County amateur championship six times. Davey was also an early member of the Brookside softball league, an avid skier, hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed taking rides on his motorcycle, spending time at camp on the Beaverkill, and heading to his favorite local dirt car track in Middletown.
Davey is survived by his son Aaron (Christina Hood) Anderson of Delhi, his loving companion of over 19 years Ann Marie Thurgood of Bovina and her children John, Sarah and Caitlin; his brother Robert J. (Donna) Anderson Sr. of DeLancey, sister Margaret Liddle of Andes, nephews Brad Anderson, Marty Liddle and Robbie Anderson, and niece Cassie Liddle. In addition to his parents Davey was predeceased by his brother-in-law Martin Liddle and nephew Matthew Liddle.
Davey will be remembered as a kind, caring man who would go out of his way to help others. There will be a celebration of Davey’s life at Bluestone, located at the College Golf Course at Delhi from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 10.
