Cleanup of Junction Pool Rescheduled to March 29 Ahead of Trout Season Opening

ROSCOE — Organizers have postponed a planned cleanup of Junction Pool, a well-known fishing site, citing rain in the forecast, and have set a new date of March 29 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The effort, coordinated by the Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum along with BEAMOC Trout Unlimited, the Roscoe Chamber of Commerce and Roscoe Campsite Park, will focus on preparing the area for the opening of trout season on April 1. Volunteers will collect litter, prune shrubs and help ready the streamside grounds for anglers.

Participants are encouraged to bring work gloves, pruning shears and trash bags. Organizers said water will be provided, and Roscoe Campsite Park will offer hot coffee.

The annual “First Cast,” marking the start of the season, will be performed this year by Manny Zanger, a longtime figure in the local fishing community.

Organizers said they hope to see volunteers “across the bridge and on the stream” as preparations continue for the 2026 season.
