Clark Companies offers to donate athletic field to Delaware Academy

DELHI - The Board of Education of Delaware Academy Central School District at Delhi held its regular meeting on Monday, Jan, 22. and was informed that the school had received a letter from the Clark Companies Friday, Jan. 19, offering the donation of a turf athletic field, including installation, annual maintenance for 14 years, and cost of removal and recycling at end-of-life.

Because the construction and installation of the field would impact the surrounding track and field, the board also discussed the other improvements as had been originally proposed in capital project proposition 2, including the resurfacing of the track, electrical work and installation of field lights and poles, and replacement of the soccer field with a new softball/soccer field. These improvements were not part of the proposed donation.

Board of education members acknowledged receipt of the offer and expressed gratitude to the Clark Companies for their generosity. No action was taken on Jan. 22. The board of education will take up the matter at a special meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 6, with the public session beginning at 6 p.m. in the Delaware Academy High School Media Library Center.
