CCE: Healthy Calf Workshop April 29

Posted

BLOOMVILLE - Dairy farmers from across the region will gather at Byebrook Farm on county Road 18 April 29 for an informational session on the raising of healthy calves.

The program, scheduled from noon to 2 p.m. at the Deysenroth family’s farm, will combine practical instruction with informal discussion, reflecting a growing emphasis on early-life care as a determinant of long-term productivity.

A light lunch will be served at noon, followed by an introduction to the farm’s calf program by the Deysenroth family. The session will then turn to technical training, including proper esophageal tubing methods and updates to the National Dairy FARM Program, presented by Lindsay Ferlito of Cornell’s Pro-Dairy initiative.

The format is designed not only to share best practices but to encourage exchange among producers. A facilitated discussion led by the PFM team will invite attendees to bring questions, challenges and successful strategies from their own operations.

The event is free to attend though advance registration is requested by April 27. Interested participants may register by contacting Kim Holden at 607-510-7050 or via email at kmh19@cornell.edu
