Car Safety Seat Check at Delaware Opportunities Aug. 7

Posted

Delaware County Public Health will conduct a car safety seat event Aug. 7 at Delaware Opportunities, Inc., 35430 State Highway 10, Hamden.

Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be on hand on from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. to check car seats and give instruction to parents and caregivers on proper car seat installation and use.

Car seats work best when they are used correctly. In passenger cars, child safety seats reduce the risk of fatal injury by 71% for infants and by 54% for toddlers. Most parents and caregivers are confident that they have correctly installed their child’s car seat, but 59% of time the seat has not been installed correctly.

Bring your child or children and the vehicle owner’s manual and car seat manual if you have it. Expectant parents are welcome.

Delaware County Public Health receives funding for this program from the New York State Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee.
