Bovina Farm Enhancement Grant Applications Due Aug. 1

Posted

BOVINA - Farmers in and around the town of Bovina have until Aug. 1 to apply for a new grant program aimed at supporting projects that improve the long-term viability of working farms.

The Farm Enhancement Grant Program, funded through proceeds from Bovina Farm Day, will award up to three grants ranging from $1,000 to $2,500 for projects that increase the efficiency, productivity or profitability of eligible farm operations.

Organizers said they have already received several applications and are encouraging additional eligible farmers to apply before the deadline.

The program is intended to help finance capital improvements and other investments that strengthen agricultural operations over the long term. Eligible projects include infrastructure improvements such as replacing the roof of a barn or shed, restoring unused pastureland to production, constructing livestock paddocks, purchasing farm equipment such as a tractor, expanding livestock or crop production, or hiring a consultant to develop a value-added agricultural product.

Grant funds may only be used for direct project expenses and cannot be applied toward routine operating costs, including feed, fuel, fertilizer or other day-to-day farm expenses.

Priority will be given to farms located within the town of Bovina, although farms within approximately a 10-mile radius of Bovina Center are also eligible if they meet program requirements.

Applications may be submitted online or by mail and must be received by Aug. 1, 2026.

Recipients will be announced Aug. 15 and recognized during Bovina Farm Day on Sept. 6.
