Bovina Farm Day to Celebrate Delaware County’s Agricultural Heritage on Aug. 31

On Sunday, August 31, Crescent Valley Road in Bovina will once again be the site of one of Delaware County’s most anticipated rural traditions: Bovina Farm Day. Now in its annual Labor Day Weekend slot, the event celebrates the region’s farming roots with a full day of family-friendly activities, demonstrations, and community connection.

Organized by the nonprofit Farming Bovina, the festival runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and showcases the working landscape of the Catskills through hands-on exhibits and local fare.

There will be hayrides, a giant haystack slide, antique tractor displays, butter-churning and maple-candy making demonstrations, children’s games and crafts, and guided tours of the farm and historic Maynard Schoolhouse. Animals will be on hand for petting and learning opportunities.

Two fan favorites—the Best Apple Pie & Apple Dessert Contests and the Scarecrow Competition—are returning. Contestants in the scarecrow contest are given hay, stakes, and cross-arms to construct their entry ($10 fee); dessert contests are free to enter.

A marketplace tent will feature local meats, cheeses, produce, maple syrup, honey, flowers, and handmade crafts. Food will be available from Fosterbuilt Coffee, Russell’s General Store, Ty’s Tacoria, and others.

Admission is $5 per person; children under 12 enter free. For the safety of farm animals, dogs are not permitted.
