BOVINA CENTER - Runners and walkers will take to the roads of Bovina Center on July 25 for the third annual Bovina 5K, a community event that raises funds for local trail development.
The race begins at 9 a.m. at Creamery Park and will wind through the hamlet and surrounding countryside before returning to the park. Participants may run or walk the 5-kilometer course, which consists of two loops through the community.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Bovina Trails, including a feasibility study being conducted by the Catskill Mountain Club to explore future trail opportunities in the area.
A free one-mile Kids Run will follow the race at 10:30 a.m.
Organizers say the event is designed to combine recreation with community investment, drawing residents and visitors alike to one of Delaware County’s most picturesque hamlets.
The first 125 registrants will receive a commemorative race T-shirt.
The event is supported by the Catskill Mountain Club, the Livestock Foundation and local volunteers.
Registration for the Bovina 5K is $27.50 and remains open while space is available. Organizers have capped participation and reported more than 160 spots remaining as of early June.
Dogs are not permitted on the race course, though leashed pets are welcome in the start and finish area at Creamery Park.
The race will be held Saturday, July 25, at Creamery Park in Bovina Center. Registration and additional information are available through the event’s online registration page.
