STAMFORD — The artistry of tattooing will move from skin to canvas this summer as Headwaters Arts Center presents Paper + Skin, a group exhibition featuring the work of eight New York tattoo artists.
The exhibition opens June 26 and runs through Aug. 1 at Headwaters Arts Center, 66 Main Street, Stamford. An artist reception is scheduled for Friday, June 26, from 5 to 7 p.m.
The show features work by Laura Bochet, James McIlroy, Susan Pittinger, Irina Schultz, Savvy Simmons, Megan Stack, Jillian Steeves and Cierson Zambo. Their artwork spans a range of styles and media, from painting and illustration to printmaking and graphic design.
While best known for creating permanent art on the body, tattoo artists often maintain practices in other visual disciplines. The artists featured in Paper + Skin have curated exhibitions, painted large-scale murals and explored traditional art forms beyond tattooing.
The exhibition highlights the breadth of their work and offers visitors a look at the creativity that extends beyond the tattoo studio.
