DOWNSVILLE — Bear Spring Mountain Campground opened for the season May 15 and will remain open through Sept. 7, according to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
Located in the western Catskills, the campground offers 37 tent and trailer sites, a swimming beach, boat rentals and more than 24 miles of multi-use trails. The facility also includes horse-accessible camping at the Spruce Grove area, which features tie stalls and trail access for horseback riders.
Camping fees are $18 per night, with an additional $5 nightly surcharge for out-of-state residents.
Amenities include hot showers, flush toilets, a trailer dump station, picnic areas, playgrounds, volleyball courts and boat launches. Accessible features include wheelchair-accessible campsites, a fishing platform and an accessible shower building.
The campground is divided between the Launt Pond Area, which houses the main campground and amenities, and the Spruce Grove Area, located about 3.5 miles away.
State officials reminded visitors that untreated firewood may only be transported from within a 50-mile radius to help prevent the spread of invasive pests.
