Bassett to Hold Candlelight Service for Families Grieving Lost Children and Pregnancies

COOPERSTOWN - Bassett Healthcare Network will host its annual remembrance service for parents, families and caregivers mourning the loss of a child or pregnancy — an evening of reflection, connection and shared healing Thursday, Nov. 6.

The hour-long program, from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Clark Auditorium at Bassett Medical Center (1 Atwell Road, Cooperstown), is open to anyone in the community who has experienced such a loss, no matter how long ago or where it occurred. A virtual attendance option will also be available at bassett.org/memorial

Organized by Bassett’s Spiritual Care Team and Women’s Health Team, the annual service aims to provide a compassionate space for those whose grief often feels invisible.

“When the loss is a child or a pregnancy, the sorrow can be profound and enduring,” organizers said. “This event gives families a place to remember openly what they carry quietly.”

The evening will include a candle-lighting ceremony, during which attendees may have the names of their loved ones read aloud. Those planning to participate in person are asked to RSVP by Monday, Nov. 3 by emailing gerald.paciello@bassett.org

All are welcome — parents, relatives, neighbors, and caregivers — to gather in remembrance and to honor the enduring love that loss cannot extinguish.
