Assembly Representative Joseph Angelino announced that $1.7 million in grants is available for 2026 through the New York Farm Viability Institute for farmers with 10 years or less of farming experience. Projects can receive up to $200,000 and will require a 5% match. The grants can be used for the start-up, improvement or expansion of a farm operation; the purchase of agricultural land and physical structures; the purchase of machinery, equipment or livestock; the construction or improvement of physical structures, including semi-permanent structures; worker or apprenticeship training; and marketing activities.
“Farmers are the backbone of our economy, and we must work to help support our new generation of farmers. That is why I am so proud to announce these grants. I want to thank the New York Farm Viability Institute for making these grants available, and I encourage all eligible farmers to apply.
And as always: No Farms, No Food,” said Angelino.
